From Code to Creative: Exploring UX Design with AI Tools

UI/UX design can be challenging for programmers who aren't familiar with the field. It requires a deep understanding of user experience, psychology, and artistic principles. As someone with limited experience in this area, I found it fascinating to explore Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools that could assist in creating high-quality designs.

AI-powered tools enhance design efficiency and streamline the web development process. They help overcome common challenges such as frequent revisions, miscommunication, and time constraints—making the workflow more seamless and effective.

Finding the Right AI

Finding the right AI tools to enhance a project—without generating irrelevant or inaccurate results—is often the most difficult part of working with AI. I needed a plugin that was not only intelligent and specifically trained in UX design, but also integrated smoothly into our existing workflow.

Through research, I discovered a Figma plugin called UX Pilot. It’s an AI-powered tool that generates high-fidelity wireframes and UI designs quickly and reliably. I chose UX Pilot because of its seamless integration with our existing design system in Figma. In addition, the text prompt feature and intuitive interface made the product very easy to use.

Trusting the Process

The process of creating a design was fairly straightforward. First, I assessed the components that needed to be updated. Then, I crafted a prompt tailored to the situation. This step required some iteration, as the tool occasionally struggled when asked to generate too many options at once.

After refining the prompt, I integrated the suggestions from UX Pilot into our existing designs. This helped me generate 10–15 design variations in under an hour.

Voila!

The entire process—from ideation to fruition and validation—took just three hours. Without these AI tools, Poket would have otherwise spend substantial resources on manual designs and several days iterating before reaching a final design. By streamlining the workflow, AI significantly enhances efficiency, reduces costs, and accelerates prototyping. Through this process, I have learned a lot more about UI/UX design and how to save costs. I’m looking forward to applying this knowledge of how to find the right AI tools in my future projects.
