Portal Translation Feature

We recently launched a new feature in the Poket platform to make it easy for our clients to manage survey responses that are submitted in foreign languages.Â
Poket has two key tools as part of their solution - a mobile app for field data collection and a web-based portal for viewing this field data and managing projects. This feature was built for the second tool, which is the web portal.Â
Most of Poket’s Portal users understand English, but manage surveys submitted in various other languages like Spanish, Swahili, Arabic, etc. that are submitted using the mobile app. This presents a challenge - survey data comes into the portal in languages our customers may not necessarily understand. Typically, teams would download the data from the platform and use third party translation services to make sense of the data.
To solve this, we built a feature to allow for submissions made in non-English languages to be immediately translated to English using AI. Now, survey submissions made in any of the 200+ languages spoken around the world can be translated into English in a manner of a few seconds. The team moved fast - we went from ideation to prototype to production in just a week.
We are very excited to launch this feature and help our customers collect and analyze data in a manner which is fast, intuitive and cost-effective!
If you have any projects where field data collection, self-reported data, citizen-generated data or a participatory/community-based component may be relevant to your work, we’d love to hear from you!Â
